One of the highlights of the Camino is wittily-edited signs or messages left for friends following more slowly. When we get back to England we suspect we’ll be conditioned to follow a yellow arrow of any sort anywhere – the official signs are a yellow clam shell and arrow on a royal blue background but they come in many other forms – often yellow arrows spray-painted on walls or the road or arrows made of stones, girl guide style. Someone with a mean sense of humour could have a lot of fun at the expense of tired pilgrims!
