was another lovely day, but a complete contrast. We were invited to lunch with two other former members of Durham University International Women’s Group, Huda and Lama. As with all Hanan’s cooking, the food was delicious – tabbouleh, stuffed flatbreads, spring rolls and plenty of cake! It was lovely to catch up with Huda and Lama again and amazing thinking about the connections we share through the IWG.
Lama took Pat and I into downtown Amman after lunch and gave us an excellent tour of the amazing second century Roman amphitheatre and the old town. The age and gender of the clientele smoking Hubble-bubble pipes in the Jafra cafe was something of a revelation to me!
Downtown Amman
Some interesting geology? The limestone from which the amphitheatre is built is full of bivalve shells.
